Applications Open for March 2026 MHFA T4T Program

Looking to build capacity in your organisation and help build the conditions for strong mental health across Northern Ireland? The Mental Health First Aid (Adult) Training for Trainers program helps build a wider community of people equipped to support mental health and wellbeing. This March, the Public Health Agency (PHA) is inviting eligible applicants to take the next step in that mission.

The five‑day programme is scheduled for March 23–27, 2026, and will take place at the Seamus Heaney Homeplace in Bellaghy. The training blends evidence-based content with practical teaching techniques, preparing new instructors to guide others through the MHFA program with skill and assurance.

As part of its commitment to meeting regional mental health priorities, the PHA may prioritize applications from individuals who deliver training within commissioned services aligned with the Protect Life 2 Strategy (2019–2024) or the Substance Use Strategy (2021–31). To broaden access, a maximum of two places per organization will be allocated.

Applications open noon February 16 and close 4 pm February 23. Applications are via the Clear Project and all the relevant details can be found on our website now.

For those passionate about improving mental health literacy and strengthening support networks, this program offers a meaningful opportunity to step into a trainer role — and help more people across Northern Ireland recognize, respond to and support others experiencing mental health challenges.
