Research has indicated that people who live in deprived areas are at a higher risk of suffering from ill health and have a lower life expectancy than the population as a whole. Developing Healthy Communities administers funding for Neighbourhood Health Improvement across the six neighbourhood renewal areas in the Northern promotes coordinated activities to address the health and social wellbeing of adults.
Activities are linked to Making Life Better themes. Recent examples include physical exercise challenge programmes, mens' and womens' health activities and emotional and wellbeing activities.
Neighbourhood Health Improvement funding is administered directly to the six Neighbourhood Renewal Partnerships operating in the Northern Sector of the Western Trust.
